FAQ

DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

Yes. Recording time must be booked in advance so that we can arrange to have an engineer available and secure your studio time slot. Once you book, we will give you the exact suite number of the studio and instructions for how to enter.

We’ll do our best to accommodate last-minute booking requests, but please call ahead of time to make sure that we have studio space available. Feel free to call or e-mail us and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

We do not charge a cancellation fee. However, if you cancel with under 24 hours’ notice, we will require a 50% deposit before booking your next appointment. That deposit will be refundable as long as you cancel or reschedule your appointment with more than 24 hours’ notice.

WHAT HOURS ARE YOU OPEN?

We generally have availability from 10 am to 10 pm Monday to Friday, except for federal holidays. If you have a request that falls outside of those hours, please let us know and we will accommodate if we’re able to on a case by case basis. There may be an extra charge for a recording scheduled on a holiday, on the weekend or late at night.

DO YOU HAVE PRODUCERS THAT CAN HELP ME CREATE A SHOW?

Yes, we can help you create a podcast or come up with a podcast idea. We have an outstanding team of professional podcast producers who have years of experience working on some of the biggest podcasts in the U.S. Whether you have an idea that you want help focusing and refining, or you have no idea where to start, we can help you. Our team has worked with a wide range of talent including political podcasts, comedy podcasts, talk shows, movie podcasts, and more.

Podcasts don’t just have to be about entertainment, either. You can also start a podcast for your business. Our studio produces the popular goodsugar podcast, a health and wellness talk show tied in to the goodsugar restaurant in the Upper East Side. No matter what focus you have or why you want to start a podcast, we will work with you to find your niche.

WHY SHOULD I START A PODCAST?

Podcasts are an excellent tool for self-promotion and marketing.

For businesses, if you have a restaurant, store, or offer any type of goods or services, a podcast can set you apart from your competitors. For example, if you have a tutoring business, you might start a podcast about learning techniques or unique facts about your specialty to help pique interest in your services. People will listen for the value you add, and you can work in organic plugs for your business throughout. If you create content that people are genuinely interested in listening to, it can be far more effective than simply posting an ad.

For individuals who want to gain traction for creative pursuits, whether you’re a comedian, musician, artist, gamer or anything else, podcasts are also a great way to gain a following and grow your personal brand. You can use your podcast to drive people to your website and social media accounts. Video podcasts are a great way to generate clips so that you have easy, regularly recurring content to post on your accounts so that you can stay top-of-mind with your followers.

WHAT IS A VIDEO PODCAST? SHOULD I RECORD VIDEO?

Whether to have a video or audio-only podcast depends on your goals, as well as what your specific podcast is. However, in general, having a podcast with video recorded in addition to audio can be a great way to make clips to promote your podcast and grow your social media following. Remember that if you record a video podcast, you can always make an audio-only version from that, but if you record only audio, there is no way to go back and get visuals later.

All of our studios are equipped with cameras and have the capacity to record video podcasts in addition to just audio. If you’re not sure what best suits your needs or just want to talk it over with one of our producers to get feedback, don’t hesitate to contact us.

HOW CAN VIDEO PODCASTS HELP ME PROMOTE MYSELF, OR MY BUSINESS?

Video podcasts are an excellent way to generate clips for social media that engage and excite your followers.

The social media 80/20 rule suggests that 80% of your posts should provide something of value to your audience, whether it’s educational, humorous, or simply interesting – and only 20% should be directly promotional. If you intermix your promotions with podcast clips, it can be far more effective than just posting the promotional content directly. For example, if you’re a comedian with a live show coming up, posting an engaging podcast clip with a still poster of your show details at the end is far more effective than just sharing an image of the poster on its own. If you have a funny or interesting video clip, even people who aren’t interested in your show will share it, creating a wider audience for the post and greatly increasing your chances of someone who wants to come to your show coming across the poster.

I HAVE AN IDEA BUT NO GRAPHICS, LOGOS, LOWER THIRDS, OR OTHER ASSETS.  CAN YOU HELP?

Yes, we can help you create any graphics, music, and other assets you need for your podcast. We have an expert staff of motion designers, sound engineers and graphic designers. When you start a podcast, it’s important to develop a custom look, feel and sound. Branding your podcast helps to set it apart from other podcasts in your niche.

Assets you may want for your podcast may include:

  • Logos: Logos are a simple symbol to quickly signify your podcast visually. They’re important for things such as posters, cover art, and watermarking video clips.
  • Lower thirds: If you have a video podcast, a lower third is a visually interesting style to display the name and social media handle or website or you and your podcast guests. This can be still or animated.
  • Intro / outro sequence: For video podcasts, you may want a visual intro / outro sequence for your podcast or a new segment, especially if you have a video podcast. For audio podcasts, this could be something like custom music and narration. A special opening and closing can be a great way to draw listeners in and give them a final reminder of what they’re listening to at the end.

Our team can help create any of these assets for your podcast, in addition to more basic things like thumbnails and posters to promote your podcast on social media. These visual and audio assets are an important step for branding your podcast.

Let us know if you want to discuss making any kind of graphic, illustration or audio assets for your podcast and our team will get back to you quickly with a quote. Our prices are affordable, and we’re willing to work with all budgets.
